THE BATH HOUSE
Silence, surrounding nature, open horizons towards the lake, wish to be “invisible” and by the time observe everything around were the main sensations to inspire the project. The wish was to create calm, peaceful, low volume as a “merging and re -opening horizontal”.
The bathhouse – closed from the side of the homestead yard, maximally opens to the lake side. The wooden volume forms cozy, enclosed inside courtyard itself. The building almost “encloses and saves” the “one inside”, meanwhile the “rough” façade planes are covered with vertical wooden plank finishes as it was merging to the surrounding nature. Partly covered courtyard space preserves intimacy and privacy and is even more strengthened through the wooden outside terrace with the integrated whirlpool bath. Inside and outside communicates through the fully glazed and opening walls. As an interpretation of the vernacular shelters wooden roof covers the openings.
The meaning of the bathhouse transforms – broadens to the place for recreation, relaxation and meditation.
