Exceptional natural situation. The picturesque bend of the river Neris. Plastic and shining water path. The escarpment and undermined coastal trees.Moving away from the shoreline, the relief rises moderately. The coastal trees and bushes lines extend as they were accompanying and repeating the flow of water. Huge oak trees along the lot boundaries, like the last boundary sign between the natural coast and human activity. In the highest and the farthest part of the coast there is an open green area-meadow. Behind it, there is an approach road of the neighboring houses. Looking down toward the river, under the oak there is and old outhouse volume. It is modest and doesn‘t obscure the view to the oaks and river bank. The look doesn‘t stop, it penetrates toward the coast. The river charms, one would like to sit on the meadow, to draw the energy from the oak fortitude and to observe the slow, constantly changing life of the river bank…
A vision of the accommodation near the river arrives to the imagination – a vision of the river bend accommodation.
Here the accommodation could appear, which would merge with the river bend, open to the river, wouldn‘t obstruct the coast to the passerby and… allowed (as well as now) to sit on the meadow, imagine as an ice floe flowing on the green river bend or just observe the sculptured and elegant volumes of the building on the river bank, which could remind about the small homestead house, which stood here some time ago… It’s like a peaceful coexistence with the environment, “silent flow” and the belief that this feeling can be maintained and strengthened. It‘s like an opportunity, which allows you to forget about the crazy pace of the city and the daily rush. While the (inevitable) attributes of the rush – cars, to „shelter“friendly and to hide from our eyes.
Another feature of these houses is that it is a two-flat house of one family. The reflection of this area is a common („flowing“) – glazed ground floor volume. Meanwhile, two similar but at the same time different, like „growing“ from it, the volumes of the ground floor with the children bedrooms. They are like the symbols of a bother and a sister, who will live here.
The planted roof of the ground floor is like a „flowing“continuance of the meadow in front of the house.
The northern glazed facade of the ground floor is open to the river view, and though the southern one is hidden from the passers‘eyes (deepened), but it is open for sun rays, which during the day go throughout the common areas of the ground floor. This allows to feel safe and cozy and at the same time enjoy the slow flow of the river.
