At the end of the year 2011, on December 2, the Awards Night of one of Ukraine’s major events in architecture and interior design − Interior Goda 2011 − took place in Kiev (Ukraine). This is an annual event, in the course of which the latest trends in interior design are featured and the best interiors created by Ukrainian architects are selected. Prominent architects lead master classes and present their works. The organizers (the Architecture Club Archidom and the magazine Dom i Interier) do not limit themselves to this sole event − they continually collaborate with the Ukrainian and foreign architects, presenting their works, organizing lectures and master classes. The architectural aesthetics’ studio Arches (R. Liola, A. Liola, E. Neniškis) had been invited by the organizers to present their works and share their experience. Also, during this event Rolandas Liola and Edgaras Neniškis together with colleagues M. Untertrifaller (Austria), Z. Tetere (Latvia), D. Zalane (Latvia), S. Machno, J. Saenko, A. Bojchuk, A. Storozhilov, E. Vaisberg, E. Bastricheva, M. Milman, I. Karpan (Ukraine) evaluated the projects that had been submitted for the competition.
This year, the contest program embraced projects by 645 participants, who competed in six nominations:
– the best interior of the public administration building;
– the best interior for trade and food-related business purposes;
– the best interior of a private house;
– the best apartment interior;
– the best unrealized project;
– the Audience Award;
– the main prize of the contest − Grand Prix.
The overview of the contest will be presented in a special publication Luchie interjery issued by the magazine Dom i Interier.
New connections were established during the event; Ukrainian interior design trends were observed. The huge interest in the event and growing professionalism of the works presented caused elation. This was just the third contest, representing the best interiors in Ukraine, but the enthusiasm and willingness to develop was truly fascinating. And up to now, I haven’t met anyone doubting the need or benefit of it. Thanks to the organizers and all the best!
